Did you know the LISST-200X measures more than just particle size? While it’s widely recognized for its particle size measurements, the LISST-200X’s primary measurement is actually the Volume Scattering Function (VSF) at near-forward angles — data that is then inverted to derive particle size. For years, ocean optics researchers have used the LISST-100X and LISST-200X for small-angle VSF measurements.
Until recently, VSF data from the LISST-200X was only accessible through MATLAB processing. Sequoia has added VSF output directly to the LISST-200X Windows software, making this valuable information available to all users. Even better, the VSF can now be viewed in real time, making the LISST-200X the first instrument to offer real-time VSF visualization!
