Sequoia at the 2026 Carbon to Sea Annual Convening!
Kirby Simon, our Science and Technology Lead, attended the Carbon to Sea convening in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada at the end of April. The convening brought together cross disciplinary leaders in the field of ocean alkalinity enhancement (OAE) research to update on progress across academia, industry, nonprofit, and other sectors in advancing this ocean-based climate solution.
Particle measurements are critical to understanding the fate of alkalinity in the water and potential environmental impacts from dosing, such as secondary precipitation. Sequioa’s sensors are therefore important tools in OAE laboratory studies and field work. This is evidenced by results from Kirby’s research where he used our LISST-200X to measure changes in particle size during alkaline mineral dissolution. See an example plot below showing the particle size distribution (PSD) of an alkaline feedstock change over time (~4 hours) when mixing with seawater!
