Are any measurements made by Sequoia instruments IOC-approved?

Yes. At the 27th Argo steering committee meeting in Cape Town, South Africa, April 2026 the meeting decided that particulate beam attenuation (cp) measurements should be re-labeled as IOC-approved when they serve the same purpose and applications as particulate backscattering (bbp) using a different optical method. Several of Sequoia’s instruments measure beam attenuation: LISST-200X, LISST-Black, LISST-HAB, LISST-pH, LISST-Glider, LISST-VSF, LISST-Horizon, LISST-Deep, LISST-Tau. The latter is particularly well-suited for integration on floats and gliders and measures cp at 650 nm (cp650).
