Last week, Sequoia Scientific, Inc. had a the pleasure of attending our first virtual conference. Amidst the current issues that COVID-19 poses to large gatherings this year, many events such as conferences are moving into the virtual realm. In addition to addressing pandemic concerns, this also makes conferences more accessible to people globally, and greatly reduces the carbon footprint associated with traveling to a physical location. NEBC (Northwest Environmental Business Counsel) was very quick and adaptive in creating a virtual space for the Managing Stormwater in Oregon conference this year. This signature annual event, hosted online this year, convenes regulated companies, solution providers, and government agencies to explore the most current topics, best practices and cost-effective solutions in stormwater management.
Sequoia had a wonderful time getting acquainted to this new format of conference, viewing virtual demos, and engaging with visitors at our virtual booth. We hosted two drawings for prizes, with each winner receiving a $100 gift card to REI as well as a $50 donation to a nonprofit of their choice. At this time, we would like to announce our winners as William Ford, who chose Friends of the Earth International as his nonprofit, and Marney Jett, who selected Donate Life Northwest as her nonprofit. Congratulations and happy adventuring this summer!
We look forward to seeing how other conferences adapt to virtual networking and sharing in the coming years.
