Sequoia’s LISST particle size analyzers have revolutionized the study of flocculation in aquatic environments. Since the mid-1990s, they have often replaced older technologies with real-time, in-situ measurements. About 15% of research papers with LISST data focus on flocculation, highlighting LISSTs’ versatility in diverse environments, from lakes to oceans, at depths up to 6,000 meters.

LISST-100X based instrument design developed by Ackleson et al. (2020) to collect in situ data of both floc size and primary particle size. Figure used under CC by 4.0 license (https://doi.org/10.1002/lom3.10391).
