I Cannot Connect to / Talk to / Wake up my LISST-100 or LISST-100X [OpenConnection – Error 7 Initializing port 0]
[Sequoia, March 29, 2010]
Q: When I try to connect to my LISST-100 or LISST-100X I get the following error messages from the SOP: OpenConnection – Error 7 Initializing port 0.:
and/or OpenCommDev – OpenConnection Failed:
and/or Unable to open communication port:
What is wrong??
A: This is because the communication port that the SOP is trying to access:
is either not available or
is being used by another piece of equipment or
2 versions of the SOP are running at the same time, and one version has already accessed the port, thereby preventing the session you are using to access the port or
because MOTOCROSS is open at the same time as the SOP and had accessed the port
Check the SOP settings in File/Settings/Serial Port:
and make sure that the serial port selected (in this case port 3) is available for selection in the device manager:
Please note that the device manager can be accessed in Windows through Start / Control Panel / System / Hardware / Device Manager.
Also, don’t forget to make sure that no other versions of the SOP is running, that no other instrument is connected to the port you are trying to use, and that MOTOCROSS is not using the same port that the SOP is trying to use.
