PiA Conferences and Webinars
PiA – Particles in the Americas is a conglomeration of scientists and engineers from academia, government, and industry. At the time of formation of PiA, its role was to bring scientists from Latin America at regional conferences, held in the continent. PiA Conferences are bi-annual events. The first such conference was held in Vittoria, Brazil, jointly with ENES, in 2018. The second PiA conference was scheduled for 2020 in Cuzco, Peru. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has delayed the physical conference indefinitely.
To continue scientific interactions in the time of COVID, PiA has started a series of Webinars. PiA conferences include a one-day field trip, in addition to 2 or 3 days of paper presentations. These intimate assemblies are designed to promote partnerships and awareness of each other’s issues, expertise, tools, and experiences.
The Language of the conferences and webinars is English.
The Conferences include Short Courses.
Student presentations are invited. A Best Paper award is presented.
PiA was formed jointly at the initiative of Dr. Yogi Agrawal of Sequoia Scientific, Inc. of USA and Prof. Juan Restrepo of Uni Norte in Colombia. PiA has expanded to include participants from many Latin countries, see below.
The PiA meetings are sponsored by Sequoia Scientific, Inc. of Bellevue, Washington, and organized with a local host somewhere in South America.
