PiA Conferences are bi-annual events that bring together scientists and engineers working with sediments in Latin America.
These conferences aim to integrate research and monitoring in the entire South American continent. Many of the needs of scientific research in the region are ovelapping and interacting consequences. The PiA Conferences are gatherings of specialists with emphasis on a common language that further encourages participation of people from North America and Europe. These intimate assemblies are designed to promote partnerships and awareness of each other’s issues, expertise, tools, and experiences.
The Conferences include Short Courses.
Student presentations are invited. An Best Paper award is presented.
The PiA meetings are sponsored by Sequoia Scientific, Inc. of Bellevue, Washington, and organized with a local host somewhere in South America. The conferences typically last 3 to 4 days, with short courses and a field-trip.
The first PiA conference was held in Vitoria, Brazil, jointly with ENES.
The second PiA conference will be held in Cuzco, Peru, 2021 (NOTE 8/27/2019: Postponed from 2020 until 2021). Please visit this page again for news and updates on the next conference.
