| Q: | | What is a USGS B-reel? What is it being used for? | | The B-reel is a sounding reel being used for positioning and deploying stream gauge equipment in streams and rivers. It can also be used for water sample collection devices, such as depth-integrating bottle samplers etc. Sequoia's LISST-SL uses the B-reel to transmit power and data to and from the LISST-SL to the topside control box. More info about the B-reel can be found here: http://www.rickly.com/sgi/sounding_reels.htm#USGS%20B-56%20and%20B-56M%20-%20Model%203230,%20and%20Canadian%20Model%203237
